Just Sudoku!

Challenge your logic skills.

Fill the grid with 1–9, no repeats in any row, column or box. That part has not changed in a century. Version 2 rebuilt everything around it from scratch in SwiftUI — five ways to play, daily and weekly challenges, notes that keep up with you, and statistics worth checking.

Why we built it

Because the alternative was another twenty minutes of the feed.

We build software for clients all day, and we watched what people actually reach for in the gaps — the queue, the commute, the ten minutes before a meeting. Almost always a feed. You put the phone down afterwards and could not say what you had just looked at.

We wanted something to reach for instead. Not another thing engineered to keep you there — something with a shape: you start it, you think, you finish, and you stop. So we built the game we wanted to have on our own phones, and then we kept building it.

That intent shows up as decisions, not slogans:

  • It ends.A puzzle has a last square. There is no feed to fall into and nothing that refills while you play.
  • One tap to sign in.Sign in with Apple and nothing else — no password to invent, no email to hand over, no profile to fill in.
  • Your progress follows you.Streaks, stats and saved games move between your iPhone and iPad without you doing anything about it.
  • The ads can go, permanently. One purchase and they are gone for good — not a subscription that keeps asking.

Whether Sudoku makes anyone measurably sharper is not something we are going to claim — the research is genuinely divided. What we will say is that it asks something of you, and a feed does not.

What is new in 2.0

Rebuilt in SwiftUI

The whole app, from the ground up. Faster, smoother, and native to iOS in a way the first version never quite was — with refined animations and layout across iPhone and iPad.

Five ways to play

Normal, Zen, Speed, X-Sudoku and Killer, alongside Daily and Weekly Challenges with progress tracking and completion history.

Solving tools that keep up

Pencil marks with auto-notes and optional auto-removal, conflict highlighting, mistake tracking, and a hint system that can offer strategy-style guidance rather than just the answer.

Progress worth returning for

XP, player levels and titles, achievements for streaks and speed and difficulty milestones, and a statistics screen with wins and plays per difficulty, best times and best scores.

Tuned to your taste

Themes, haptic intensity, sound controls and number font options. Optional Daily Challenge reminders, off unless you turn them on.
